Here we tell you all about the Christmas activities in Málaga so you can enjoy a dream holiday in our beautiful province.

Below you’ll find a detailed guide to everything you need to experience Christmas 2025 in Málaga.

Málaga’s Christmas Essentials

Málaga offers a great variety of Christmas activities, and here is a selection of our favourites.

Christmas Lights on Calle Larios in the Historic Centre

There is no Christmas in Málaga without wandering through the city centre and being amazed by the spectacular light show on Calle Larios. This year, there will be three daily shows featuring music, colour and, of course, thousands of photos and videos. It’s an unmissable plan for families, couples or friends, where more than one and a half million lights illuminate the streets of Málaga city.

The Christmas lighting is the star of the festive season in Málaga. The official switch-on takes place on November 28, and the traditional light-and-sound show on Calle Larios returns with three daily performances at 18:30, 20:30 and 22:00.

In addition to Larios, much of the historic centre will be decorated with more than two hundred light arches, Christmas motifs, illuminated streetlamps and special ornamentation on streets such as San Juan, Marqués de Larios, Plaza de la Constitución and Paseo del Parque. Strolling through the old town at dusk becomes an essential plan: festive atmosphere, music, open shops and a warm ambiance that attracts thousands of visitors.

Christmas Videomapping on Málaga Cathedral

This year, the Cathedral is introducing a new videomapping show titled The Dream Fisherman, inspired by a Christmas tale whose protagonist pays homage to the cenacheros, a traditional figure closely linked to Málaga’s identity. The projection will take place on the unfinished tower on the south side of the cathedral, visible from Molina Lario street.

The show, produced by Firefly Events, combines 2D and 3D infographics created specifically for the Cathedral and uses state-of-the-art laser technology. It features around 80,000 lumens of projection, 30,000 watts of sound and a technical setup including elevated structures, robotic lighting, smoke machines and special effects. The show lasts approximately 8 to 9 minutes.

Performances begin on November 29 and will take place daily at 19:00, 20:30 and 22:00, until January 4, 2026 (except on December 24 and 31).

Projections on the City Hall Façade

Málaga City Hall will once again display the decorative projections introduced in 2024. Its front wall  will be continuously illuminated with Christmas designs such as stars, ornaments and traditional figures. The switch-on will also take place on November 29, following the same schedule as the main city lights.

Christmas Markets in Málaga

During the Christmas season, Málaga’s markets fill the city with festive charm: the Paseo del Parque market stands out for its handicrafts, traditional sweets, unique gifts and the unmistakable aroma of roasted chestnuts, while the Muelle Uno market offers seaside walks, shopping and lively terraces for dining. Many neighbourhoods also host their own markets or fairs, offering plans for every taste.

Our Christmas markets are among the most renowned in Spain and abroad. Don’t miss their fantastic stalls and fall in love with them.

Nativity Scenes in Málaga

One of the most cherished traditions. Don’t miss the Municipal Nativity Scene at City Hall or the live nativity scenes held in different towns around the province. Many museums also join in with special Christmas displays. You’ll find nativity scenes from brotherhoods, museums and even neighbourhood associations.

Christmas in Málaga is also known for its strong cultural tradition. Across the city, you can visit municipal nativity scenes, live displays, themed exhibitions and classical or choral music concerts.

On January 5, the Three Kings Parade will take place. This is one of the most eagerly awaited events for families. Floats, music, lights and thousands of people fill the streets to bid farewell to the Christmas season. Here you can check all updated information about the schedule and route of the Three Kings Parade 2025.

Botanical Garden Christmas Lights (Málaga)

The La Concepción Botanical Garden in Málaga opens its doors from the last week of November until after Epiphany to host one of the most spectacular and unique visits in the province. For Christmas, the garden is adorned with festive lights reminiscent of central European Christmas markets, creating magical illuminated scenes that play with light and the architecture of the beautiful estate.

This is the perfect activity to enjoy in the late afternoon or evening with family, friends or your partner. A plan that blends nature, art and Christmas spirit in a truly special way. Tickets range from €6 to €15.50 and can be purchased on the garden’s official website.

Outdoor Activities

Christmas in Málaga is full of plans designed for children: ice-skating rinks, Christmas tourist trains, craft workshops, storytelling sessions… The historic centre and neighbourhoods come alive with activities that allow kids to experience a magical Christmas.

One of the children’s favourite activities, though adults often enjoy it just as much, is the Three Kings Parade.
