A complex with a long history
La Garganta Rural Tourism Complex is the result of decades of work, dedication and respect for the history of El Chorro. The former Santa Mariana flour mill has gradually been transformed into a leading rural tourism destination in Málaga, combining comfort, nature and outdoor activities in an exceptional setting beside the Caminito del Rey.
Designed by the García family themselves, the complex preserves the building’s original architecture, incorporating reclaimed historic materials and recycled elements. These include bricks over 70 years old, beams from Málaga’s former railway station, stone blocks from El Chorro station, old valves from the El Chorro hydroelectric power station, and a hoist from El Chorro’s carbide factory. These historic industrial pieces now form part of the complex’s unique identity.

La Garganta is a family project built generation after generation through the hard work and passion of the García family. Our connection to El Chorro and deep respect for its surroundings have shaped the complex’s development from the very beginning.
More than a rural retreat, we are a team dedicated to providing warm, genuine and personalised service. For us, an outstanding experience grows from this combination. Every day, we work to help our guests discover the essence of this unique corner of Málaga, enjoying the nature, gastronomy and tranquillity that make La Garganta much more than a place to stay.
